Over the weekend, we finally finished shopping for and setting up the furniture for Mackenzie’s nursery. I found this side table on clearance at TJ Maxx for $20. I already owned the baskets, and they just happened to fit perfectly. The lamp is one Chris and I have had for a while, too. It’s not exactly the style we originally had in mind, but it casts off a really warm, dim light, which will be perfect for late nights when we’re up with Mackenzie.
Then, the shelf we’ve been eyeing at Target finally went on sale – for $20 off! We set it up on Sunday night. It’s perfect for storing Mackenzie’s already-growing collection of books, as well as the wonderful blankets that have been given to her.
That puts our total cost for furnishing the nursery (crib, chair, shelf, dresser, and rug), including fabric, at $400. For about half the cost we estimated originally, we’ve created the nursery of our dreams. The thing Chris and I love about it most is that it is full of items that were made specifically, specially for Mackenzie. I absolutely love this space, and I’ll be posting pictures of some of the finer details and finishing touches over the next couple of weeks.
