How to Zaza

June 7, 2008

Today I had lunch with Joel and Chris at a new restaurant in the Heights region of Little Rock called Zaza’s. It is co-owned by the owner of Boulevard Bread Company, and the food is fabulous. They feature made-to-order and classic salads, wood-fired pizzas, a cafe area, and Italian gelatto. Chris had the prosciutto-arugala pizza, and Joel and I shared the Quattro Stagioni (Four Seasons) pizza and a Baja Shrimp salad; everything was surprising and amazing. The flavors were specific and rich, and we left overly stuffed and satisfied.

Zaza’s website is still under construction, but if you think of it down the road, check out the website at zazapizzaandsalad.com. And if you’re in Little Rock, you should definitely stop in for lunch or dinner. They are located in the Old Heights Theatre in Little Rock.

I am really excited about this restaurant because it is another local sustainability effort with amazing food as the result. The tag line on the cover of the menu reads, “Create Local. Create Better.” I couldn’t agree more. I really hope to get to meet and talk with Scott sometime soon. I would love to know what motivates him to support local farmers with such zeal and launch such amazing restaurants. Maybe he’ll let me do a feature for The Whole Life. 🙂
