Family Mackenzie

Around Here

November 11, 2010

The last week has been marked in two- hour shifts with Mackenzie. We change her, feed her, snuggle and read with her, and put her back down for a nap.

She’s great about napping in her crib during the day, but not so much at night. I’m still spending the nights with her, rocking her to sleep in the chair in her room, trying to put her down until it’s time to feed/change her again, and basically sleeping in the chair with her for hour-long spurts in between.

Except that last night/this morning she slept for two and a half hours, and she turns six weeks old tomorrow. I’m hopeful.

I had to do the same thing with Mia. This too shall pass! It takes some time to get their body clock on the right schedule! One thing that worked for me was that as they get older you try to shorten their daytime naps to increase their sleep at night. (Book: “Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child” given to me by Codi) And I also remember my 1st hair salon visit afterward– it was like I barely escaped and felt like a finally had a life again! Lol!
