And Then the Sun Came Out

September 16, 2011

The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout
Down came the rain and washed the spider out
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain
So the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again

That nursery rhyme is a metaphor for my life these days. Or the old infuriating saying, “Try, try again.”

We are trying things. And sometimes they work, and sometimes they don’t.

Day care has been working, but yesterday was really hard for me. The morning was particularly hard — I missed Mackenzie and just didn’t want to let her go all day. Mackenzie’s favorite teacher was out taking care of her sick daughter, and I hated leaving Mackenzie with the substitute.

But once again, she had a great day. She played with the other baby and ate the daycare lunch and finished both of her morning and afternoon bottles. She even took a great nap in the afternoon.

My day got better, too. I worked on a few different projects. I made progress.

And then the sun came out and cleared away the clouds. I shut down half an hour early, picked Mackenzie up, and took her to the park.

I love reading your blog. You have a beautiful soul, and it is obvious, even in pictures, that Mack does too. I am very proud of who you are. And happy that the sun came out. It will again. It does almost every day. 😉

If I had a little cutie like Mackenzie, I’d leave work half an hour early every day. :p
