Today has been a long, long day. We’re almost half-way through the weekend, and I just wrapped up fifteen hours of sewing…

In case you haven’t heard, our seven-month-old Lab puppy Sydney has a penchant for tearing into the foam and polyester filling inside our couch cushions. After her most recent escapade on Monday, the cushions were certifiably ruined. However, rather than buy new cushions, which cost almost as much to replace as a new couch, I decided to break out the 1968 Touch n’ Sew sewing machine I bought last summer and figure out how to get it to work. Somehow, a full glass of red wine later, I got the needle to pick up thread from the bobbin, and we were off! After that brief victory came the afore-mentioned hours upon hours of hand-sewing to repair the cushions.

Beautifully, the vintagey muffin cups I ordered from Bake It Pretty on Etsy arrived today, just in time for a much needed culinary/coffee/comfort food/creativity break. I was inspired by the maple sour cream walnut muffin recipe posted on Design Sponge a while back and decided to give them a go. They turned out beautifully, and SO delcious on this dreary, rainy day. (I did substitute half of the sour cream with low-fat organic yogurt – not sure if it made much difference, simply what I had in the fridge). You should definitely try it out!
