Three-Oh {Part 1}

August 30, 2011

(I am re-writing this because my previous, almost finished draft disappeared. Grrr.)

Sunday was my 30th birthday. The big Three-Oh. And it was amazing.

On Saturday I got to Skype with my mom and my twin sister Lea. That was super fun. Mom got to see us open our birthday presents, and Mackenzie got to see her Grandma and Aunt Lea. 🙂

Sunday was just the usual, except church was amazing and gave me so much to think about and act on. Chris and I are talking all of it through, which is why there will be a Part 2.

Chris made sure Sunday night was extra special. He hired a rockstar babysitter and took me to dinner at Merchant’s, a restaurant in an old historic building in downtown Nashville.

Over the course of the night, Chris had me list my top ten lifetime accomplishments before he would give me my birthday present. It was a sweet game, based on the same concept as writing a Good Things list, and really did remind me that the future holds good things.

Then, we drove to and climbed to the top of a hill that overlooks the city. It was a beautiful night, and Chris gave me a gorgeous heart shaped pendant necklace set with diamonds. It is so beautiful, yet just understated enough to be something I can wear every day. I love it.

THEN, we went home, played with Mackenzie, talked with the babysitter, and ate cake. Delicious, luxurious chocolate torte topped in homemade whipped cream and raspberries, made by the man himself.

A delicious end to a perfect evening. 🙂
