DIY Farmhouse Table and Parson Chairs

June 29, 2012

I have really been pining for a new table for our kitchen. The one Chris built before is awesome (and is now our desk in the office), but it was too tall for Mackenzie to sit at in a chair, and we couldn’t fit very many people around it.

Plus, when I saw this tablescape with Gwyneth Paltrow last year, I was smitten.

So, because my husband loves me and also loves a challenge, Chris offered to build a farmhouse table for me. He actually finished it a few weeks ago. Chris finished building our new kitchen table. It’s a square farmhouse table built from reclaimed wood, and it seats four people in our tiny kitchen perfectly. I love it.

(For some great farmhouse table ideas and tutorials, check out Tommie and Ellie’s blog.)

The only things we lacked were chairs. We shopped around, but the best price we could find was $59 a chair. Chris found this tutorial, so we decided to build our own.

We finished the first two last night, and we are so pleased with how they turned out.

Mackenzie got to be the first one to test them out. I think she approves.
