Life Mackenzie

Bare Bottomed Baby

June 28, 2011

As Mackenzie grows, our cloth diapering adventures continue.

I rarely (ever? never?) post pictures of Mackenzie without her diaper and some clothes on for privacy reasons. In fact, we’re pretty modest in general, and she is nearly always fully clothed, even at home. But today deserved – nay, required an exception.

Mackenzie has been really loving playing with her food. She’s losing patience with spooned purées. Rice puffs and apple slices and toast and soft blueberries are all fair game. She still loves puréed sweet potatoes, though – in her mouth, and on her face.

Which makes for interesting diaper changes. Today’s mid-morning diaper was a post-apocalyptic poop explosion that went up her front, around her waist, under her arm, all over her shirt and leggings, all over my shirt when I picked her up, and even dripped through the strap slots on her car seat. Stinky, smelly poop everywhere.

Silly girl.

I washed everything (her whole room, practically), and she played nekked in her crib while I dealt with the mess.

Which brings me to the point of this post and a note to my cloth diapering friends out there. Cloth diapers without leg gussets may be trimmer, but they don’t hold messes. I don’t want to give a bad diaper review, so enough said. Leg gussets are the way to go. (Email me if you need to know more than that.)

Uh-oh! Now I’m getting nervous about the ones I bought! LOL I wont be able to test them out until probably Sept. when she’s big enough for them! I just bought small CDs, not newborn. Due in August of course!

I’m sure your diapers are fine, Heather! Just sent you an email to ease your worries. The diaper culprit here was a diaper I was actually warned not to use but had already purchased. If you’re using diapers that were recommended to you, then I’m sure you’re safe. 🙂
